Bowinn Ma: Standing up for families in North Vancouver-Lonsdale

Elected in 2017, 2020 and 2024, Bowinn has served as Minister of Emergency Management and Climate Readiness and Minister of Infrastructure. A professional engineer and working mother, she welcomed her daughter in 2023, becoming the third B.C. cabinet minister to give birth while in office, and welcomed her son in 2026.

As a member of David Eby’s BC NDP team, Bowinn has delivered real action for people across the North Shore, helping secure provincial funding for housing, schools, health-care facilities, child care spaces, and transit and active transportation infrastructure. Her collaborative work on a regional transportation strategy helped pave the way for a rapid transit concept to the North Shore, which the TransLink Mayors’ Council has since identified as a regional priority.
